Midterm done, work project done, pre-trip shopping all done! What a chaotic couple of weeks heh. I'm leaving for California tomorrow, going to attend Blizzcon. Hopefully get some autographs from the artists there. :)

Not really Day 19, I worked on this almost everyday but the in between process is not really screenshot worthy so I decided to wait. Anyway, some more armor progress. I played around with her necklace quite a bit as I didn't really like the WoW in game design of her collar XD. I wanted to give it a finish that resembles jade, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Outlined more armor. The perspective still looks a bit weird to me, I think I'm staring at it for too long and developing tunnel vision. Going to sleep on it and adjust some more on the weekend before fully rendering it. But you can see the process here, I lay down a layer of flat colours first, and then build more colours on top of that to create details/depth.

Starting to work on the armors now. I never painted wood before so...yolo mode lol, I think it turned out alright. Not taking lighting/colour highlights into consideration for now, will fix it for the whole picture when I work on the background.

Got back to Hearthstone today, I want to make a serious try at reaching legendary rank this season, or maybe the next haha...got to Rank 13 so far, I'm surprised there aren't many zoolocks/hunters yet, the lower brackets' filled with either mages or rogues all day, I haven't even seen a druid yet...what is going on O_O. No complains I guess, glad to know my out of date priest control deck still works okay, just going to keep farming until a handlock smashes my face q__q.

Progress so far, still working on face. Not happy with the lighting yet. Lots of trial and error >.<" I have completely forgotten how to colour in photoshop -____- Probably going to redo her hair later but the outline helps with composition.

Thursdays will be break day for now because I have class at night (I work full time during the day) so it's a bit hard to squeeze in time to draw when I come home at close to midnight without messing up my sleep schedule.

Adjusted colour scheme, wanted to try something more vibrant. I'm not very happy with her face just yet, need to fix her eyes. In the current state she's giving off a very awkward stare. I want her eyes to look dreamy.

Finally dusted off my Wacom Intuo 4. First time painting using a tablet in three years lol so rusty...sketch is done in Paint SAI, will import to Photoshop for colouring later. This is Ysera the Dreamer from World of Warcraft. Got a request from a friend to draw his favourite character. Haven't really decided on what she should be wearing yet, I kinda want her in a dress um...and long hair, definitely long hair. Resolution is set at 2000x1600px for now but I will probably paint at 6000px~ later

Missed Thursday >.< Guess I'm not used to the new work flow yet. Had to work all day, go to class, eat out with friend, come home at midnight, work some more, and sleep at 6am to meet a deadline...yep, derped out, just a bunch of lame excuses. I failed at time management but hopefully with time I'll pick myself up. I made some pretty drastic changes in my life style in the last month...mainly, quit gaming which occupied close to 25 hours a week of my free time...started piano lessons, enrolled in a project management course, started exercising a little bit, and focusing a lot more on my career development. It wasn't easy but I guess baby steps? XD I might have bitten off more than I can chew though...because right now my days feel almost as busy as I was back in good old uni...ops. I suppose it won't be as bad if I didn't have insomnia issues, which is probably the main reason why I feel like crap half the time.

Trying out 90 sec gestures...I know these are boring as shit to look at but apparently they are quite important to put you in the zone. You can tell I wasn't use to the timer for the first few because I wasn't able to finish at all...but it definitely got easier as I did more.

Night Elf Mage

I decided to draw something fun today :D. This is my night elf mage from World of Warcraft (Stormx of Sargeras US server). The mage class is a bit of an outcast from traditional night elf culture in the lore so I tried to stay away from the usual Elune/nature/feral look. Her expression should give off a "I don't give a shit" vibe, confident and cocky haha...as befit the mage class but I'm not sure if I captured that or not.

Another set of gestures, this time I increased the timer to 5min. Tried to follow the "draw smart not fast" approach as stated by Proko but man...it's really difficult, makes me over-think way too much I don't even know if I'm doing these correctly. You are not suppose to copy, or draw the contour, or draw what you see. You are suppose to draw what you feel...like telling a story, show the motion. Ahhh the confusion @_@

Day 3: Reality

I had to make a tough decision in my personal life on the weekend so it's been a rough few days. To be frank, I had no motivation to do anything at all but at the same time I know I have set a goal for myself and I need to keep going. I did draw but the subject matters were a bit personal so I have decided to not post some of the entries. I do want to give thanks to my close friends, parents, and my boss for all the support they have given me. Everyone of you have touched my heart truly and I am very grateful.

Meanwhile, I have received shipping notice of the artbooks I ordered a week before, so I should receive them in one or two weeks. These are the artists that have and will continue to inspire me on my art journey. The first is the limited edition "Art of Blizzard" book, containing the works of my all time favourite artists the Sons of Storm. The second is "Santa Lilio Sangre Akaiyuri", artbook by Ayami Kojima, better known as the concept artist behind the Castlevania franchise, with notable work such as Lament of Innocence and Symphony of the Night.

I have been watching FZD's tutorials and the things I'm learning are quite eyeopening. I encourage anyone interested in learning about concept art to check these out. Mr. Feng Zhu is an incredible teacher. There are so many tricks and tips in these videos that I have never heard about before. I had to take a notepad and write things down, and I have only watched 6 or 7 episodes of them.
